The story of a remarkable residence built in 1920s Kharkiv to house Ukraine’s leading writers and artists. What initially appeared to be a cultural paradise became a place of surveillance, repression and destruction under Stalin, as a generation of Ukrainian intellectuals was systematically targeted.
