Based on the true story of Nat Turner, The Birth of a Nation follows the enslaved preacher whose deep Christian faith is exploited by slave owners to encourage obedience. As Turner witnesses the escalating brutality inflicted on enslaved people and their families, he becomes convinced that God is calling him to fight for justice. In 1831, he leads a slave rebellion in Virginia that would become one of the most significant uprisings in American history, leaving a lasting impact on the nation’s struggle over slavery, faith, and freedom.
